2006 Subaru Impreza Clutch

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone knew after how many km's a clutch should be replaced on a 2006 Subaru Impreza S MY07.

Looking to buy one which recently had it replaced; I'm wondering if it had been driven fairly hard.

Clutches wear mainly due to driving style. Hard driving doesn't necessarily mean the clutch will wear quicker.

The quickest way to wear the clutch out is to slip it as you take off and change gears.

Just be glad it's done as it's not a cheap exercise if you can't do it yourself.

I like to gear down a lot when slowing for lights and more aggressively when cornering on tight windy roads. I bought a mint 5yro liberty MY96 back in 2001, had 70k on it. At 280k the clutch was squeely (throw out bearing?) And the flywheel was very badly warped. Would shudder excessively when u first start yo roll in 1st. Had a new valeo clutch installed and it cost me 800 at a local reputable break and clutch specialist. Clutch was not actually slipping yet.

Not sure how much that helps.

Also agree totally w Bennie. Once clutch has engaged you can drive as hard as you want, it won't effect clutch wear until you need to clutch/shift again.
Its the time the clutch spends in partial contact (slipping/engaging/disengaging) the flywheel that causes the wear.

a lot of people i know use the clutch at the light instead of the brakes, So if the owner did that, not very long. But mainly you replace a clutch when it starts to slip:)

That could also be due to the clutch not being able to clean off the dust that can build up from good clutch use. When you feel this occurring purposely slip the clutch and give it a rev. If you do this a couple of times with the next gear changes it'll come good again. The take off from a stand still is the best time to do it.
