Ea82 cuts out

Post by RogerB » Mon Jun 16, 2014 11:47 am

Hi, my Ea82 motor cuts out temporarily a few minutes after starting. It soon
runs again, then works normally. Seems to happen within a few K's, & then has no problem for the rest of the journey. Any help in identifying the cause would be appreciated, thanks Roger. 1993 Leone Wagon, Carby,

My wagon was doing this when the little pickup in the disty was faulty. Would cut out, usually about 5 mins after a cold start, for random amounts of time, then work for the rest of the trip. Got to the point where it wouldn't even start though.

It was actually a little bit tricky to track down. Wasn't until I watched the pulses with my oscope that I saw what was happening. The ignition system In my wagon is a fair bit different to yours so your probably best off going over everything obvious first before digging into the disty guts. Is start with fuel, connectors and voltages.

Regards

Yeah, sounds fuel related. I'd check that the fuel pump is running all the time the engine is turning over. A temporary wired in light should give you an idea of it's operation.
