you saw it and didn't grab it ?

There was either EA71 twins or EA81 twins and the difference is in the manifold length - EA71 won't fit on EA81. The EA81 twins will also fit on EA82.
The measure between each head is pretty obvious. The EA81 twins have something like DCG306 etched onto them , but hard to see unless clean. Don't sound too excited at the yard - price may go up :

was thinking looked a bit different in the top cover screws and PCV inlet but I think 'bery has got an EA71 in his L Series !

just measured an EA82 inlet manifold I thought I didn't have. 524mm between centres of each of the outermost stud holes

The guy at the yard told me it would kill me on fuel, so I just didn't even look at it again. What do you think

I got better fuel efficiency with my twins, and same with Willy and his twins on EA81 got his down to 6.5 l per 100km. You gotta go back and snap them up if no one else has!

Yes a very common furphy that twin carbs result in poor fuel economy, that is simply not experienced in practice.

Even if it is from an EA65 it is based on the EA71 so I would imagine the manifold will have the same spacing. I doubt very much that the EA65 has its own manifold. Of course I could be wrong but my understanding is the EA65 is a 1300cc version of the EA71 so I cannot see it using a different intake manifold.

If you can get measurements of the bolt holes I can compare it with mine if you like.

Do not confuse the EA65 with the EA63. Early EA63 1400cc engines had dual exhaust ports on opposite sides of the heads, one on the front and one on the back for each head (so 4 ports in total for the engine). Not the single, siamesed exhaust port design of late EA63, EA71, EA65 and EA81 engines. All of which are located underneath the heads. The original EA63 also and reversed valves, hence the different camshaft and, of course, better 'breathing'.
