Marry Christmas everyone
Has anyone got or know where i can find info on Australian Subaru auto boxes, gear ratios, diff ratios and all that good stuff for around the 1999 models Thanks

Have you tried talking to Subaru? and giving them your Vin they might have something on file for what the car would've had fitted?

Falcon what i am thinking of doing is a converting from 4.11 to 4.444 but want to keep the revs down on hwy driving so the turbo isn't using to much fuel
I want to get an idea on n/a boxes and jdm boxes to see what final drive ratios are with 4.444 diffs The other thing is i want to have the lowest 1st gear ratio i can get as well
I'm happy with 1st gear they way it is a little lower would be nice for off-roading
I hope you can make cents of all that

ahh ok makes sense to me yeah well when you find out let me know that sounds like something id be keen on to

even though I've only got the crappy (well everyone says they are) 3 speed auto it might be handy having that knowledge for later modification.

If they are the same as the early (pre 99) autos then there is no difference in gear ratios. The only difference is the diff ratio.

I was looking into the exact same idea when I built my auto years ago. In the end I realised they all had the same ratio.

The FSM for the various cars will list the ratios in the specifications section. Have a look at a few FSMs

AFAIK (99% certain) all the auto boxes are the same internal ratios. Only the final drive changes 4.11 or 4.44

Forester GT box is the way to go. My 01 auto GT does 6-7 l per 100km on the highway as its doung 2300rpm... then can drop back to 3rd and make full use of the 167 wheel kw :P

Lower diff ratios will keep you RPM down on the highways.. Higher ratio will increase your RPMs

What car is it going into? as the later boxes use different TCU controllers
