SJR lift kit need advice.

Post by Ben james » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:18 pm

Hi guys. I'm looking at buying one of these lift kit
From SJR for my subaru L series wagon.

It's a 2inch lift kit but it says
You have to buy a steering arm extension
And thay don't supply it.

But iv been told by a few people
That you don't need the extension
Arm for the 2 inch lift.

Is this tru or do I still need it even for the 2 inch
kit.

All so is there any were in Vic that would install the
Lift kit. As I would have no idea how to.

You will need a steering extension otherwise you won't have any steering.

From memory the outback knuckle should fit but don't hold me to that.

Does the kit come with the bolts needed as well? as the standard bolts are not long enough.

You need an extension no other way to do it. You could possibly find one from another model but I don't know which one to go for.

I'd recommend contacting rsr555 on this forum as be builds lifts for the L's and is in Aussieland too. You'll be able to contact him to discuss issues or options.

I don't know of mechanics that would fit a lift, but there are backyarders that can do it. I did mine easily in a day. You need a set of jacks and jack stands.

Other things you might need - extended speedo cable. I need one for my three inch lift...

If you're going for lift you might want to lash out on those scorpions that are for sale in vic on gumtree. Awesome rim!

Cheers

RSR555 is in Port Headland working for the next 2 weeks.

The Ausubaru facebook page is a good way to contact him, if it still exists I can't find a link to it.

I recommend buying locally. SJR kits are nearly 500 Australian dollars, then add shipping, then convert shipping to AUD, it could be near $1000.

Most lift kits come with a steering shaft extension. Cross b r e d performance did sell extensions separately, but I am not sure if they are still in business or not.

Also you could get one modified. My local engineering shop charged $20 for a custom length shaft for my Datsun.
