Ea 81 motor will start then stops

Have an ea81 in a Brumby when I turn the key to the start position the car will run as soon as I let it go back to the on position it stops what's the problem

Update it will run if I run power directly to coil.where do I start looking?

Fuses ... then check to see if there is power at the on position of the ignition barrel.

As well check the wiring to the coil for power in the on position.

is it points or electronic ignition?

If points check the ballast resistor to see if it is broken

Found it it was the fuse thanks

Not a problem it is even more fun when that happens on a bridge in traffic :)

I spent 10 minutes on the side of the road trying to work out why.

turned out I had a loose wire on the electric choke and it was shorting the fuse.
