ej carb engines?
ej carb engines?
I have read that some import legacy's come out with carbied ej motors.
Has anybody done this conversion to an older model subie or know anything about these?
A carbied EJ22 would have to be a fairly easy swap and nice power increase to an L-series...

With an electronic distributor!!!!
I am chasing one, and have been for months.
They go right into the slot of an EJ22 on the DS head.

I don't think many of them were for sale in Japan, they were more aimed at other Pacific rim countries with a lower standard of living & less stringent emissions.
eg saw a Carb EJ18 in a Gen 1 Legacy in Fiji in 99.
You'll have vitually no luck finding one.
It would also be hard to convert an EFI version due to the shape of the inlet manifold too.
Nice thought though, would make for a simple conversion.

For anyone who is interested,
This is the distributor that these EJ18s run.
If anyone can find one, please let me know.
22100 AA460
NO: 3119
TYPE T2T82371A DO2
Mitsubishi Electric
Corp Japan
There is also a SPFI model EJ18 which ran a distributor
(with no vacuum advance module) it apparently sucks in comparison.
