suspension (& raceute) question
Has anyone used the AC Delco shocks and struts as advertised on ebay? Supposed to be rebaged Gabriels.
They're cheap and I wouldn't expect greatness from them but for $45 a pair for L rears with a 2 year warranty they might be worth a try.
On another note, is there any interest out there in my offroad raceute project Brumby? I was thinking about a buildup thread but it may be a little extreme/hardcore for this board. It is a slow work in progress, some years in the making and I plan to be race ready before June although it wont be properly finished for some more years (are they ever finished?).

I used to sell the ACDelco shocks, and I was never officially told if they were Gabriels. However several of my customers did mention they heard this.
One of my best friends put them in the front of his EF Falcodore and swore by them, they impressed him far more than the year old Monroes they replaced.
One of my old customers would run nothing else too.
And yes, I'm sure most of the people on this board would be keenly interested in the Brumby project, I do remember it and would be keen to see it again, even if it were only a few pics!

yeah show us your ute!!
I used a pair of AC Delcos on the back of the sedan for a while ... they were as good as any other shocks i've had on there, but nothing compared to the set of L series rears on there now.

Okay another question.
Do all L series 4WD models have the same front and rear struts/shocks?
I thought they did but UltracheapAuto are advertising these-:
SUBARU LEONE, L SERIES, VORTEX REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS
PART NO. GSS044 PAIR
SUITS
LEONE 2WD
GL, DL, SEDAN 11/1984-88
GL, ROYALE SEDAN 7/1988-90
LEONE & L SERIES 4WD
DL 4WD, WAGON 1/1985-88
GL, TWA, TWR. TOURING WAGON 1/1985-88
VORTEX
XT 2WD COUPE, EXCL. AIR SUSPENSION 9/1985-89
XT TURBO 4WD COUPE, EXCL. AIR SUSPENSION 7/1987-89
What changed after 1988 on the wagons?
What changed after 1989 on the Vortex?
Maybe I should just buy KYB?

I thought I was on to a good thing when I got my 'AC Delco' rear shocks for my L Series 88 Touring Wagon from Ebay for $45 plus freight...then I made the mistake of fitting them. They lasted one week before one of them sh*t itself. Bent shaft and pissing oil...You get what you pay for!! I have just shelled out $220.00 for a pair of Monroe Sensatrac Gas Shocks from Repco - hopefully they'll last a bit longer...will report back after a week!

In my RX i will only put the KYBs in or something more suited to high speed fun but i fitted a set of those rear shock off ebay to my dad RX and they are working fine and dandy. Dad drives like a normal old person with the occasional fang to make it known that he has a turbo
