83 wagon clutch cable

Did they make a single range 4x4 in this year?

If this above is correct, would a single range clutch cable be a direct swap for dual range cable?

I had a single range '84 wagon. From memory when I swapped to a dual range I didn't need to change the cable.
'91 brumby, EJ-Turbo with VOSChip, 2" lift, 15" superlites, Dual Range AWD.

'93 Subaru Legacy, 2.2 auto, automatic seatbelts, LHD.
