Im not sure if your L series is the same... i guess it is... But on all my MY's i have removed the entire hood lining and using some contact glue (quick grip) from K-mart... and some vynal from the local material shop... I recoverd it.
U wil find the vynal will stretch around the bends and stuff... Just take your time... Maybe practice vynalling something similar first. If u find it isn't strtching enough... heat the vynal with a hair dryer.

i did mine by myself easily enuf, just take off the roof, pull back the lining where u want to glue, i used pva, worked fine no probs at all, then apply using a paint roller so it is nice and even and not too rough as the foam does tend to wear, then slowly lay the lining back down, dont pull otherwise ull stretch it and ur holes wont match, also when rubbing lining down, dont use too much force, just a gentle rub over otherwise the glue will seap thru the lining, all and all, takes about 15mins to take the roof section off, 30mins to glue everywhere nicely and lay lining down, i let it dry over night, then bout 15-20mins to put it back up in the morning, saved me bit of money and effort looking around for one or at the wreckers.
Cheers hoped this helped, feel free to ask any questions

Dont know about other fellas, but using PVA on mine left some nasty stains
.
I then took it to a professional car trim guy in Ringwood who did the whole lining for $110. matched the colour and fabric too! This was a couple of years ago tho, so he might be a bit more expensive now.
Mind you, I thook the lining out myself, so he did not charge me labour for taking it out and putting it back in.
WRX_nut, if you are interested, I can PM you the details.
