installing timing belt into ej22
installing timing belt into ej22
Does anyone know of any links or have any advice on how to install the timing belt into a ej22 motor,we installed a new timing belt in my ej22 and it's now running rough so thinking it must have slipped on a pulley on installation ,is there any way of checking if it's incorrectly fitted without pulling too muchapart, and is there any tips on what to look out for once you've got the covers off the cam belt pulleys. any help would be appreciated.
Regards Cheffy.

Possible best way is to remove left and right side covers and line up the pointers up (on the cam pulleys) and see if left and right are both the same, if not then the belt has slipped over one or two or more teeths.
Here is a picture of EJ22T engine (very much the same as EJ22 except turbo).

I knew I saw it somewhere just took me a while to find it.
This site, although it's actually about aircraft, has heaps of info about various suby engines, including a complete procedure for timing belts, amoung other things.

Sorry it took so long to find it, might be useful to the next person.
