How should an L clock display ?

Post by steptoe » Wed Aug 22, 2007 10:29 pm

I recall a post some time back on a fix for L series clocks up there in the middle of the dasboard.

Anyone got one that works as it should ?

Does it display the time with engine/ accessories off ?

or just when acc/ign on ?

I have got three of the little blighters and the current installed one did infact show the time, nice & bright for a little while - not enough for me to process when it worked and how. The othwrs showed nil signs of life too !

I remember as a youngster thinking how out of place a clock was in a car

From memory in the L-Series the clock will display the time only when key is in acc or on position. Display is at full brightness when headlights are off, and dims when headlights are turned on.

Works exactly as gremlins said. If it dont, try pulling it out and re-soldering the joints on the PCB. They get heaps of dry joints particularly around the big resistor. Mine only worked upside down when i bought my L.

I certainly hope this was discovered by removing the clock from the dash!

I did actually ask the guy i bought the car off how he discovered this, assured me it was by removing it - still, i checked the roof out!

so who likes what display colour. I prefer the orange colour than the green - I found out you can actually swap the colour filters!

We are talking about the digital clock right? If so how can you change the color? It's digital.

The Green don't bother me. Green is better then orange anyday:D:p

the digital clock up at the centre of dashtop in an Lseries , yes. With the clock removed it has simple plastic clips to bend/break to remove housing, the colour comes from a lens in front of the display screen
