Spotted new release Impreza

Post by Rabbitoh » Wed Aug 15, 2007 6:10 pm

Just spotted a new Impreza hatch , looked like a S R model , looks too much like the rest of the hatch field now and has lost that distinct Subaru look, Subaru has lost the plot, they have even done away with the traditional pillarless doors.

Looks crap imo. Too much like a mix of the previous Mazda 323 and current Mazda 3.

I think this shape will grow on people, just like the bug eye'd WRX a few years back. I don't mind the shape as it presents in the rally dress-up that greentreefrog has above.

But if they did away with the pillarless doors then its not subaru IMO... It would be a very sad day.

A boot model is in the line up, later in release date I believe I seen somewhere on the web. Been trying to fine any info on the new Forester, found nothing so far, but the diesel looks to going into the Liberty/Outback first.

Interesting to note here:
http://digiads.com.au/car-news/latest-S ... 00706.html
That the engine is a 1.5L variable valve timing unit, and the turbo is back to 2.0L size again
'03 Forester X, stock standard for now.

Sorry to say this but the new Impreza has window frames on the doors. No more pillarless!! According to the write up I saw this allows a greater door opening angles to make getting in and out of the car easier.

Um....

Why would you ever drive around without a window, unless you were driving to and from a wrecker to buy a replacement? Wouldn't that be your first priority to fix it instead of duct-taping a bin liner to your car?

we all really should have seen this coming. subaru have gone down the path of everything else, and went all 'economy this' and 'futuristic looks' that.

they look ****, plain and simple. like white nanna undies on a supermodel. looks freaking ridiculous, but underneath it's still something that we all love. va... subaru.

don't even get me started on the tribeca.

That one never grew on me, infact nothing after that model has (to date.).. Maybe I just don't like Subaru's enough or something... Old school all the way!

From all I have seen so far of the new Impresa I dont like it at all ( IT SUX )
Subaru has lost the plot.
I gess when I see it up close next mouth at the Suby dealer for the club meeting it mite have had time to grow on me a bit,I hope!!!
Time will tell...I think ill stay with my Liberty, it still looks good.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Im now all grown up to an outback with a 2" lift and outback struts, ready to go off road and take on the world.

I think there's a tad bit of citroen influence in that mobil... and i agree with Phizinza's last view, although the 07 model looks worse then this new 08 model.

The doors/side panels make it look alot like those small BMW hatches, whatever they are called?
WRC versions always look the goods! Doubt that even they could do the job for a tribeca though.
