Agreed, however the choice of off road rubber and 14” is not something you see to often in the 1 sentence... lets just say your options are somewhat limited here as well.Suby Wan Kenobi wrote:There used to be a very limited choice available in 13ins tyres but i dont know what are available now, there is more choice in 14s and always has been.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).

RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

I'd be careful doing this - first and last time i did it a rock went through the sidewall. I must say that this was the most i'd thrashed my L to get up a rocky incline with the car bouncing around a bit. Subaruby can testify - he was watching the whole thing.MUDRAT wrote:Try dropping the pressure in your on-road oriented tires as well - you'll be amazed how much more traction you get in rugged terrain (doesn't really help you in mud though!).
As for 13 inch off roaders, you can get them, i havn't seen them in the shop but i've seen some L's kicking around there with them. I didn't get them simply because of the $140 a piece price tag that i couldn't afford at the time...
As said - check it out with a few dealers, you may even find a small price difference.

....If I was you, I'd upgrade to 14's....you get a marginally bigger range of tyre choices and prob even get em a bit cheaper too...dylan wrote:is it possible to get off road tyres for 13in rims? or do have up grade to 14s???
You can get heaps of 14" rims for subes second hand around the place.
Im trying to sell my white Speedy 'Desert Rat's 14's as we speak....you can a see pic of them on my web link below. Ive seen quite a few sets of cheap 14" steel rims on ebay for bugger all price.
Just my two penny's worth....

IMHO the Toyo is the better tire.
On the subject of cost - remember, you car is only held to the road by four spots of rubber barely bigger than the palm of your hand; tires are just one of the things you should never skimp on.
