I am planning a trip to Kunanurra and then to Broome. I wanted to know if I can do the Gibb River Road in my L series and what to expect.

I'd bring some spare CV boots too.

Would Super Trippers be okay for the GRR, or would you recommend an upgrade to BFG All Terrains?

Two spare wheels, plus a tubeless repair kit?

easy road, well graded...at least it was 12years ago....its the extra fuel that you need for all the side trips :D ...back then out there it was $1/litre...and 8?/l in Kunanurra.....hate to think what it is now.....
tires...just make sure they are off-roadies with deep treads for traction in the marbles.....from what I remember the road base is more a sandstone/softter stone.....not like the hard sharp rocks you have in some parts of the Flinders ranges....thats murderous to tires..

A friend of mine did the Gibb River Road in a RX Turbo with 2inch lift kit and 27 inch BFG's a couple of years ago. No tyre problems at all, but he did carry two spares just incase. A couple of river crossings worried him a bit and he wasn't going to walk them first because of risk of croc's, but as it turned out the RX did them easily. Also he mentioned at the time the corrugations were bad for most of the journey and gave the car a real pounding, and I think he mentioned when he got back he found cracks somewhere or other around some suspension mounting point (can't remember exactly where though).

I am guessing the road is a bit like the Diamontina? or The Developmental Road to the Cape, would I be right ? Perhaps Finke River Road to the Finke Gorge??

I had BFG's on that trip, are they the same size as the Super Trippers?? BFG's cost a lot but you get a lot of peace of mind, I only have a 2" lift though.

I blew out about ten top shocky rubbers on the Cape trip, so I suppose if they were intact, cracks are what to look for.
