wind comming in front windows series 1 lib
My liberty when upto speed on the highway has an annoying whistle from both front windows when they are fully closed, where it seems air is comming in from outside. The car never leaks water or anything like that but wondering what the noise is from and if replacing the window rubber will fix it.
Any ideas, or same experience

The piece the mirror bolts onto needs adjusting(remove trim, then loosen 2-3 bolts...)
..or you could use the subaru dealer prefered method of grabbing it and yanking it till it bends a bit...

I dont know if its true that it'll fix it, I cannot hear high pitched sounds including whistles.. so from what I heard, get some electrical tape, tape around where the gap where which it enables you to retract the mirror towards the car. You won't be able to pull in the mirrors in once it taped up the gap - If you dont understand, i'll grab a picture for ya.
Gen 2 & 3 liberty has the same problem.

When i did my mechanic apprenticeship at a subaru dealership at the time of the release of the series 1 libery we had problems right from the start with wind noise around the mirrors. Subarus fix was to put the wind down, open the door and apply a large upward pressure to the mirror. You will be basiclly bending the panel the the mirror is mounted to. We thought it was a bit rough then but it worked.

I fixed mine just after I got it, you can take the door and window trim off and adjust the rollers and limits for the window. Seemed to work for me, it takes a bit of playing but works. Also, that triangle thing can do with a little squeezing sometimes. Also check the door is closing flush to the body, may need to adjust the striker / lock. Only issues I have (if you can call it one) is that the window tends to rattle a little on rough roads if not completely up or down.
