Be a nicer car with one less wheel !!!

:-D
I have a few comments a bit left of centre but relevant overall to modern SUV's and car economy stickers.
I've been assured by so many dealers that the economy stickers plastered on windscreens of new cars are accurate. Well bullcrap.
I've owned a Hyundai i30 diesel manual for 3 years. Done 180,000 kms. I would swear by this car because of its reliability and it gets around 5.7 L/100kms . Worst was 6.2 best 5.2. That is country driving cruising freeways at 110kph or back roads at 100kph. The sticker says 4.6 L/100kms. Yeh right. maybe at 70kph cruising and who would?.
Friend of mine I recommended her to buy one and she bought a 4 speed automatic. Her best 6.3 L/100, worst 7.5 . And she's done 250,000kms in 3 years. sticker says- sticker says 6.0
Purchased a VW Tiguan brand new 2009 and did 48,000kms. 6 speed automatic DSG gearbox best economy 7.9 L/100kms worst 9.5. Bloody good for a 1.7 tonne SUV. But never the 7.4 claimed. The CVT Subaru claims 7 L/100kms and I doubt that for the same reasons. Lucky to get under 8.
phew....got that off my chest. But what is economy? But an SUV that gets 7 L/100kms and 2 years later you have to pay $1600 for a windscreen- well??
Now the Subaru SUV. Nice car if I was to want an SUV. Persoanlly like many other drivers I fell into the SUV craze with the tiguan. Then I went to get the Tiguan 60,000km service. The DSG gearbox had a scheduled service too and that bill hit me for $1400. Nice eh. At the time I read a RACV road test of a Subaru diesel 4WD (cant recall the model) But at the end of the test I read the windscreen costs $1695. ouch! The Tiguan was $1400 for a windscreen so I drove it with the crack in it for 12 months and by then the cost dropped down to $400. like, how could that be? someone was making some profit???
I can understand members wanting some originality. Subaru based its foundation on this. As nice enough this car appears to be why hasnt Subaru taken advantage of their reputation.?
Spares.

a forumite states- My wipers are playing up on my Impreza MY02 and a mechanic's shop I took it to yesterday told me it would cost $700 to order a new one in from Japan.
700 bucks????
this subject is the new BBQ stopper. extreme prices for parts. I found this with the Tiguan also. Subaru arnet alone.
Question is- do the buying public care- most of them NO. But they will!
No offense to Frog, my mate. this is generalising of the market and the industry.
For example: 1 inch higher ride height isnt enough extra height to sway female drivers from wanting to own one. But it will catch the eyes of their husband farmer that needs that extra ground clearance. What about some decent bumpers so this vehicle is to be used for the purpose of AWD or 4WD. It aint cheap replacing them.
I've read a test report at

Apart from what appears to eb a very short rear seat squab made for short legged Japanese the pachage seems sound. Sound for a car that does little else than the Mitsubishi's, Nissans and dozens of other SUV's on the market.
