Tape measure between bare rims, front end sitting on lower control arms , best tuyre wear and handling ever on my Mazda1300 wagon :D
I just measured between the front of the rim, back of the rim.

Would not trust for best tyre wear of new tyres, nor of best handling in FWD, although my Brumby with Turbines is 1171mm 'plus tape' before I pulled it apart, making same to limp to specialists
