What sorta parts are you after?

Any wrecker really, the ej18 was reasonably common in the early imprezas.

I dont think so. Their ignition is computer controlled, which sends power directly to a coil pack which works on the 'wasted spark' principle. The ECU gets its signal from the 'crank angle sender'
Current rides: 2016 Mitsubishi Triton GLS & 2004 Forester X
Ongoing Project/Toy: 1987 RX Turbo EA82T, Speeduino ECU, Coil-pack ignition, 440cc Injectors, KONI adjustale front struts, Hybrid L Series/ Liberty AWD 5sp
Past rides: 92 L series turbo converted wagon, 83 Leone GL Sedan, 2004 Liberty GT Sedan & 2001 Outback

I dont think it was Carby type, It was single point injected engine which looks like carby style, I did see one about 3 yrs ago in sale yard (I think it was EJ16 Impreza) and I didnt pay attention which i should have looked harder..

Another thing, I heard which is hard to believe.. if you used the manifold and ECM etc from that engine on EJ22 which proves had more power than MPFI manifold.... cannot prove if its true..

Both carby and single point injection ej's were produced.
Thankful neither are very common in Aus. MPFI ftw!

As for the dissy, check the rear rhs head, there will be an alloy cover plate with two bolts holding it on. Take it off, bolt the distributor on. :edit: SOHC only I believe.

As recently as MY2005 Subaru still exported a 1.6L EJ to some markets.

Kaz comes to the rescue on a three year old thread. I for one would like to see those pics and speaking for the rest of those looking at this thread over that time I'd say yes please for them as well. I spose we'd like to see the dizzy, the carby side draught or down draught? engine ID casting and number

What you people really want to do is find the part numbers for the distributors AND inlet manifolds . Or find someone good at cutting and shutting aluminium castings to make a hybrid carb/EFI inlet manifold .

I thought there were threads about using some form of USDM Ford distributor grafted onto single cam EJ20's/EJ22's on USMB ?
I think a few modded the multipoint manifold with side draught SU carburettors as well .

Where there's a will , cheers A .

Also you used to be able to buy programmable ignition only computers from Haltech which could run off a CAS and MAP sensor but no longer available . There's nothing stopping you using a cheapie computer like a Microtech and only using its ignition side , saves putting up with a prehistoric mechanical distributor ignition system - and it looks as std .
Cut and shut in a carby mounting flange and hide everything under an innocent looking Frisbee shaped air filter ?

I want to look at the carby, distributor option so I don't need to rewire the engine bay and strip down a harness and ecu

from the pics I have seen here

http://www.prachapter34.com/converting_engines.htm

an elctronic ford escort dissie is used and a standard coil to suit and a 350 holley carby re jetted

looks interesting (not fuel efficient but interesting power wise)

Experimental distributor in an aircraft engine, now that is adventurous.

They are using their heads , they have pics to show you what a fabricated steel inlet manifold looks like and if it was done properly may not look out of place .
