Have you re-adjusted your timing to suit the fuel? This would make a difference, especially when moving from regular unleaded to premium or premium 98...

gday fellas, i have been comparing liberty ethonol fuel to the unleaded i get here in kinglake, (shell) and i reckon it kicks its arse... better fuel economy by a mile and seems to run alot smoother, although i have noted it can be a little harder to start when hot...

its a 86 L carby...
i haven adjusted timing for it, but might try that.... didn even think of it...
no pinging either

cheers

I decided to push my timing out to 22 degrees before tdc (MPFI). Ran a tank of ethanol on the way home from adelaide, got the same mileage but because of the advanced timing when it was running hot (most of the time, an issue i have to sort out) and you started a hill climb there would be half a second of pinging before the computer would sort its sh*t out, after that you wouldn't have any pinging until maybe the next hill...

I don't seem to get any pinging, the only thing is the difficulty starting once the engine is hot. I don't know if that will change once I fit the 14" Pug wheels I am getting off Dodgy

Have tried it only a few times - car used more fuel. Seemed much the same. By volume E10 mix should get you about 3% less mileage. Should be cheaper than normal unleaded though.
