LIke Megan already said. Finke - Ayres rock is already happening next year. As fars as I know brumbyrunner will be racing.

It will be cold, so no worries about needing air con.

I am really keen on the idea of a true national get together.

Travel wise... i think us WA guys are getting the raw end of the stick.

Are these travel times to Ayres Rock or that other cental location?? Also how many hours is a day according to that? is it meaning 24 hours or ?? driving hours.

Jay's calculations seem to be travelling constantly at about 95km/hr :D

so far we got June 2008 to coincide with the Finke Desert race where we can support/watch brumbyrunner debut his ute in action.

We could start the event in alice springs for the Prologue event (Sat 7th June) for Finke, where all competitors race against the clock on an 8.3km track to determine there starting postion, check out all the cool rides that will be competing the 2008 Finke Race and spread the work about how much of a machine brumbyrunners ute is, camp the night there to watch the start of the race on Sunday morning.

We could then move down to ayers rock on sunday afternoon stopping along the way to watch any action taking place however i think we'll be a fair bit slower then them...

Sunday evening we can meet up with brumbyrunner and his crew for our BBQ and a good 'ol time round a campfire...

monday morning we can catch whatever action is about, whether we make an early move somewhere to catch some action photo's or watch the start of race day 2...

then depending on how everyone is going for time, we can mill about the remainder of the day, go celebrate brumbyrunners victory and camp monday night followed by an early departure on tuesday morning, or just pack up and start cruising home on monday after our action photo's...

what are people's opinions of that sequence of events?

thats a copy and paste from whereis.com, thats constant driving, no fuel stops, no stops overnight etc etc, so you gotta put a sleep or 2 in there overnight somewhere

yeah but someone's gotta sacrifice to get this to happen... short of getting out a set of dividers, a map of oz and calculating the exact equal distance for all parties, its the easiest way. Plus we get to see a cool desert race

Sounds good. Hatchie would suit right in to the Desert race mob.

I will buy a camper trailor for this im thinking. I need something to store fuel in... then sleep outside in the dirt.

looks like youve got the whole camp itenerary planned already. sounds good to me. only thing missing is to explore some 4x4 tracks there- to really show off our rides. but yeh the whole place is a desert so that wont be hard.
sounds good so far.

one route option is taking the great central Rd, this is an unsealed gravel road but from what i can see is regularly graded, this will also shave 1600km off our journey with numerous fuel stops along the way, the furthest apart being 250km... We would require 2 permits to travel this route. All details on this route are here

http://www.exploroz.com/TrekNotes/WDese ... l_Road.asp

its basically heading up to kalgoorlie, north to laverton then north east to Warburton and continuing... This route i think we could do in 3 days solid driving, other route would most likely take 4

so all WA boys keen on coming should start ironing out any bugs in their cars now, if your unsure of the KM's on your timing belt, change em, and stuff like that.
