Point i asked was whether i should bother putting any info about them into the 'bible'
they werent sold here so i have no way of getting first hand knowlage
Hence not easy or worth doing, maybe some other time.

ok
back with the questions
automatic transmission, how much of that changed between EA81 and 82 to the liberty's. can the electronic diff lock be done to them?

pistons? i know the ea71 pistons fit into the ea81 but why dont they fit into the 82? different crankshaft journals??
are there any other pistons that fit the EA82? i know the bore is 92mm but has anyone found any that fit straight it?

Regarding the ER27 I am currently running one in my 91 VW Kombi as a daily driver. It has been in for over 10 years. The person who first expressed interest in this engine I have a full set of workshop manuals for the XT6 if interested. All in all it is a good motor especially when fitted to the VW. Ray

thanks ray
The idea of the OP was because im currently writing a book about the EA81 and 82 engines, just wanted to know if it was worth writing about the ER but well dont see much point, they are the same as the 82 and rare here so i cant pull one apart and build it to write about

Shame I just so happen to have a spare ER27 motor sitting in my garage. A chap by the name of Radon on the Subaru XT List in America did rebuild one and did a great post explaining the rebuilding of them. Complete with pictures and all.
