What did you do to improve your soobie today
Installed a Roll Bar and KC Lights on my Brat
Hey Guys,
Been a little while since I have posted anything, but I finally did a couple upgrades to the Brat today! With some help from my brother on the weekend Rodeo4jake.
Installed a roll bar from a lovely fella who shipped it down to me in Melbourne from Coffs Harbor and the shipping was a reasonable cost! Hard to find believe me!
His name is Les, he often sells stuff on ebay and he goes by the name 'rebel2red' I believe. I've bought plenty of bits from him and he's really helpful and will probably have what you are after or he will let you know when he gets it.
I also had a auto elec install some KC Dayliters installed on top of the bar, figured they suit the era on the ute.

Installed some new seats into the Brumby. Used the original Brumby seat runners, minimal mods required and was able to retain all the adjustable features the seats offer.... Ahhhh so much more comfortable now

Decided to give the Brumby a bit of attention today as she's been running a bit poor lately. Checked the valve clearances; only a couple of intake valves were slightly out, everything else was still perfect from last time) and checked the ignition timing. Also completely replaced the brake fluid with new but not so sure I was successful in bleeding one of the rears; pressing the pedal made fluid leak out around the bleed nipple not through the tube I provided!
Then turned my attention to the vacuum advance thinking about something I read on here about manifold vacuum and ported vacuum. As it was I had a vacuum line going from the manifold supplying the vac advance and she's always idled like crap (about to shake the doors off lumpy) despite no vacuum leaks and timing being spot on. Also turns out I had that same vacuum line connected to the 2 vac ports on my carbie which now I think was a mistake; one or both of those ports must be a vacuum source, I always thought they needed a vacuum supply! Long story short now the dizzy is just connected to those two ports on the carby and still functions properly and the vacuum secondary on the carbie still opens. Blocked the vac line from the manifold and hey! no more lumpy idle!
Also before today the car was starting to ping badly up steep hills, now I can push as hard as I want and not a single rattle can be heard

Yesterday I hired a tilt tray and brought my RX home from the in laws (where it has been for 3 years and gave it a wash

Now it is home I can cut some rust out, tidy it up and finish the remaining mechanical issues so I can get it registered
I also added some 4300k H1 HID's to the Outback (hi beams only) but it isnt dark yet so I cant try them out.

Really easy to install as the ballast has double sided tape and I just stuck it to the back of the light housing.
I need to buy some H7 4300k halogen bulbs so they match and some T10's for the parkers

That's a nice little RX you've got there, I'll look forward to seeing the coming improvements.
I got to fix my oil leak from the pump today, which had gotten to the point that it was close to undrivable due to the oil burning off the exhaust choking me with fumes. Once I got it all back together I warmed it up & gave it an oil & filter change. Time for more trouble free motoring now.

Cheers Jake

Not what I have done to my Brumby but with 6 hours to go starting at $12.00 my touring wagon with the goodies such as electric windows etc, Electronic dash if wanted but in the description the owner has other parts not listed such as a Brand new Brumby LH doorshell so given the time constraints I have posted the details here in case someone misses it rather than just in the ebay section.

Looks good
