G'day,

Just bought a GX 91 model (I think) Liberty wagon.

It says on the rear of the vehicle AWD, but while driving on the dash it has a light 'FWD'.

I dont have the manual for it yet so I dont have a clue.

Any help would be great.

drivers side of engine bay behind the strut tower.

there is a black fuse holder with FWD written on it.

remove the fuse and the light will go off.

hopefully they werent demoing it to you in FWD because the rear end of the driveline is stuffed....

the fuse is in it to make it fwd. There should be a fuse holder sumwhere under the bonnet, you take it out(or put it in i cant remember) and itll make it awd again.

the have the fuse to make it fwd so it can be towed safely on a tow truck.

if you want i can look at it for you...i have the manual here too....my wagon and one of our sedans are bothe 4WD

I will try and find the fuse and pull it out. Only picked it up last night and has been in FWD the whole time.

Hopefully nothing is fooked.

if you have a fuse in there then pull it out...with the fuse in it is in FWD...someone mite have seen no fuse and thought it needed one but it does not....could find out your car has been in FWD for years and be like new.....heres hoping

No worries, will try find it and pull it out. I dont think the bloke I bought it off really knew much about it. So I'll pull it out and try drive it down the road I guess.

Hopefully nothing crunches ect...

Positives and negatives of AWD???

as far as i,m concerned there are no negitives to AWD or constant 4WD....drives better..handles better and as my wagon is a 5 speed duel range...better off road

Took it out and its all good. Spoke to the bloke I bought it off and he had it in there because it saves fuel or something.

ANOTHER QUESTION while I'm here.

Are these vehicles a pain in the arse to fill up or what?? Just went down to put some fuel in it and the handle kept clicking like it was full. Was it a dodgy pump or is there a trick to these cars??

And I'm not sure if the gearbox is slipping or not. I have always driven V8 and a V6 for our family car but this car seems sluggish when you put your foot down. Not sure if its me or not.

Hold the thing not completely in, and on a slight twist of about 30 degrees, should fix the problem. All old subies are like that for some reason

^I hold the nozzle all the way in, but upside down... That works best for mine.

No worries will give it a go. Got pissed off and frustrated after about 10 litres so will have to put some more in this arvo.

with the liberty I find its best to have the nozle in its normal upright orientation, but pull the thing out until the lump on the filler rests against the lip on the filler neck.

i,m happy now..thought it was just my car pissing me off when i fueled it...guess its the only way to slow a liberty down...need to take your time filling up and then......bam...off again
