Starting to look at a power upgrade for the wagon. If you vote then also post with your opinion on why you chose what you did.
Turbo upgrade
6 cylinder upgrade

Be bold and do both, EZ30 Turbo!!!
No seriously, Id go the turbo, its got more potential for mods and tune-ability, not to mention that we didn't get turbo outbacks in this land down under.
If that is the EJ25 with the twin scroll turbine, it has full torque from 2400rpm or something silly like that, its nearly like a diesel.

H6 all the way... especially if coupled with a manual box.
Torque on demand, no timing belt to worry about and a little more frugal on juice. Probably not as fun as the boosted 2.0L but will pull the OB along nicely.

Where's the "trade it in on an H6 or GT" option?
But if I had to choose I'd say H6 for touring.

Agree with that too - take out the lift and accessories, return the car to standard then sell and buy a 3.0R Premium. Convert to manual down the track.
I've got no idea of the value of yours vs a used 3.0R though or what a H6 cut is worth. I'm sure you've considered it.

Sorry mate, H6 all the way, if i need new engine in my Liberty, I would find H6 for power/torque etc then modify the gearbox with lower ratios to have low rpm for highway.
Cheers

We looked at trading it in on a newer one yesterday. It would cost us too much to do it compared to buying a smashed car and doing a transfer. $8-10,000 buying a salvage car compared to $30,000 on top of our car to get a new one.

I'll second that! Since when has brett ever done something inside the square?

The six option has merit but old reliable 2.5 turbo would be hard to beat, but for straight out touring the 6 i think would have to be the one.

will have to agree with you on that, a 207 + 2bar boost = happy days
but in reality a 6 banger will be more drivable on country roads...

Did I miss something??? Where did all this talk about touring come into it?!
My 2c is leave it stock

har har
Knowing that that is not going to happen I am not sure that I can tell you anything that you have not already though about - there are strengths to both options.
What we all know however that you, like many of us, are addicted to boost (actually now i think about it when was the last time you even owned a Subaru that did not have a turbo?!) Therefore my vote is for the turbo option.
Either way its going to be an original, pioneering project that we’ll all watch with interest and learn something from I am sure regardless of the power plant (Hmm, I have just reread this, sounds a bit ‘brown nosing’ doesn’t it).
Oh and I should ask, now the vote are in and you have had some time to think about it what power up grade have you actually decided on? (or are you going to keep it a surprise).

Where's the "trade it in and be the very first person in the world to lift a Tribeca" option?
