31"

Post by shuffbag » Wed Aug 13, 2008 7:32 pm

i managed to pick up cheap 15" rims that i plan on running, but attached to these rims are 31" tyres.

i have 3" lifted L and understand a little chop here and there may be required but can i get them in there?

Short answer: "no" :)

Slightly longer answer: Fatz has 6" lift kit, Subaru Outback struts, massive 2" wheel spacers, quite a lot of guard chopping, fairly wide offset rims....and the 31's don't fit - still can't get near full lock on turning.

I'm planning on running 29" tyres with my 6" lift kit, they should juuuust fit.

youll have major clearance issues with them.

particularly against the firewall i expect

go for 29's max i say

what rims are they?

Hi mate,

I'm running a 3" lift with 215x80x15 which comes to ~28.5". I had to cut the front guards and beat the seam on the firewall flat to stop the rubbing. On the back it just catches on the rear of the wheel arch when hitting a big dip in the road.

Any bigger than about 29" you'd have to make major alterations to the firewall.

Hope that helps

Cheers Rob

truth be told my car is mainly a daily driver and unless its some local urban mud my car just might not see it, with all this said all i wanted was 15" wheels with some normal road tyres.

but the 15" wheels were attached to the 31" monsters and after sitting them next to my car and wondering, i just had to ask? would be good... might still try.... my cars just asking for a yellow sticker even with out them.

i'll duck out side place one next to the car take a photo and up load it on here.

oh and my tyres on atm are 185/75/14
might make for a fun sunday arvo. i don't want to alter to much of the visable body as i will never run tyres of this size once there gone/ if they get on at all

31s definatly wont fit with excessive chopping of guard and firewall. They fit fine stitting there straight, but as soon as u get spring compression and turning, it will rub like a mofo.
im planning on changin my 31x10.5 to 30x9. With the cutting that i have done, they should fit without any issues.
If you really want 31s prepare to massacre ur soobie, and get alot of unwanted attention.
As a daily driver thats just stupid, youll drink way too much fuel, and youll need a 4.44 ratio to get anywhere

Won't fit and you're wasting your time, - you wouldn't be able to have good steering in some corners.... *smash....
thats my 2c worth.

partialy deflated i toyed around with them at u-pull it, almost got one on to the rear of a 2wd L sedan (forgot a hammer couldn't knock 2 studs out of the hub with a shifter ) was hiting the 1/4 not that it could have been driven with it on there anyways.

its not a wast of time, my main objective was the rims+6 stud conversion. i know they could be made to fit (if i was to go that way, the tyres were just a bonus) but i was wondering how hard it was to do. and wouldn't steering mainly be affected by the rim offset combined with the tyre?
