G'day, I'm looking into upgrading our clagged VP wagon for a 95 to 98 Gen 2 Liberty wagon. I've searched and come up with little regarding specs etc. Did they all come with dual range? What's the difference between an LX and GX? It will need to have power front windows, good cold air and remote centrol locking, other than that don't really care about fancy extras. I'd like something around 200,000km or less around $7000 max. Any other info I need to know would be great. Regs, Marty.

lx is povo pack,no c/c,no ew,might even be fwd,2.2L,not sure if d/r
gx has ew,c/c,cl,some fwd some awd,2.2L not sure if d/r
heritage top of range air bags, abs leather int,2.5L quad cam engine, some had head gasket issues. all awd all auto.

To clear up a bit, LX did have D/R but it was factory option. LX doesn't have electric antenna/Power Windows/Cruise Control/Central Locking. Normally all of them are FWD but there is a few AWD.

GX - Power Pack (Cruise/pwr windows/pwr antenna) wagons are Dual Range from factory, sedans are single range AWD not dual range. (they did come in FWD but most are AWD) - later models had ABS/AirBag

RX - 2.5 liter - check service history for headgaskets! same Power Pack features as GX, early ones had normal climate control - series 2 had electric climate control. All has foglights, They all come with single range - no dual range at all.

Heritage - early ones were 2.2 & later was 2.5 liter but came in automatics same stuff as RX but normally have leather interior. (except early ones didn't have foglights)

GT & GTB are normally imported.

Oh a little advice - a service history pays it off!! If the liberty is well maintained will last longer than without service history - like mine, it will go beyond 400,000kms, well its nearly 300,000 now and engine is still strong, also does oil & oil filter change every 5000kms.
