Where has your Subie been?

Post by subybrumby » Tue Jan 20, 2009 11:16 pm

I came across this in an old Bill Peach Australia Book and couldn't help but notice the car outside the Birdsville pub in the photo.

I thought for a bit of fun, can we see photos of your subaru outside a famous Australian landmark or some way out place that is famous or easy recognizeable. Overseas members might want to surprise us with some of their offerings.

No famous landmarks for mine, only bog holes and the drive through.

for the youngsters in here , Bill Peach should be if not already, be credited for presenting Australias first television series of holiday programs aptly named Holiday on the ABC, years before Getaway or The Great Outdoors came along. Once spotted him filming when I was a kid and got to meet him 'bout ten years ago. Friendly gent.

If you can't read the finer detail on the sign, it says;
COCKLE CREEK
POPULATION 4
Dave Hill

MY13 Outback - The new blue one.
MY99 Outback - As it's maker intended - but with a fresher engine now.
1994 RS Turbo - Not quite so stock! And freshly repainted now :)
And then there's the family Vortex - rebuilt, updated and now unregistered and gathering dust in the shed.
:D

Re Bill Peach, when I lived in Longreach, we ran river tours for about 5years. Bill Peach got tied up with a mob called "air cruisin". A fokker friendship was used to ferry a full plane load of high paying tourists around Australia. It was a fully escorted tour and covered seven states in about 10days.

So you may be in Kakadu for Breakfast, Ayres Rock for lunch then fly to Longreach and be aboard our boat for tea. Bill Peach came on one of the trips and I met him aboard our boat.

As he came aboard, he was somewhat under the influence and I still don't think he knew which state he was in. But yes, a nice guy and we did good business with them.

Crikey you Qld mob still spending to much time out near Beerwah :-D

As for the Subaru she’s been lots of places (we do not always get pictures though) but here is a couple.

Pic 1 = Number 3 Rabbit Proof Fence.

Pic 2 = Pinnacles.

Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).
