There aren't many of us around, and even less on show.
I want to start a vortex fan thread!

I've loved them ever since i first laid eyes on them, so naturally i had to start collecting them :)

If you've got a vortex, or know someone on the forum with one, put up some pics, give a talk about what you've done with it, what you want to do with it!

I've got 2 registered vortex's
My 85 has 185k on the clock,
Sound system
Tuned extractors, 2 1/4 system
Retrimmed leather interior
14 x 6 vega's, gold

Want it in awd, ej20t,
5 stud

My 86 is stock grandma spec
Most likely staying that way lol

Cheers
Sam

This one's my little toy.

85 Vortex - unfinished project at this stage.

awd ej20 turbo, WAIC, 5 stud, 17 alloys, RS lib brakes.

Still sorting out a few issues with the rear suspension as seen in the pic. Getting there slowley :)

Looking for some parts if anyones got any?
- Manual blue gear stick
- Bonnet release clip
- Front guard liners
- Steering wheel boss to suit (anyone know which car has the same spline?)

Cheers, Sam

I would love a blue one like yours.

I have been searching in SA for one for ages but I have only been able to find white/silver ones.

and my L Series is white so I would like something that stands out a bit more.

BTW H-TOP I have the 13" version of those rims on the vortex in your signature what are they called....never known?

Philatdarwin - i'm pretty sure i have a spare bonnet clip, out to you.

Someguy - i've been told the they are called vega's, i've been told they are made by momo. But i'm not sure about yours but mine are stamped with PWC - panther wheel company.

Cheers,
Sam

Yeah.

I only got them a few weeks ago and have already had people with 4 stud subies offering me impressive amounts of money for them as they are pretty much the best looking alloys you can get for the subaru's stud pattern.

so hold on to them :P

Hey philatdarwin, have you got any shots of your engine bay and cooler setup?
Cheers

i do not have any pics of my engine bay yet as my engine that i are going to run in it is still sitting on the bench at work but i can get a pic of it as it is if u want .
The cooler it from a rx7 ser4 but i want to run a WRX cooler when i get the engine in it. so if any one has the turbos pipes to cooler i need one it is a one pipe set up .
i will be going to be running around 11-12 psi on boost the turbo is a vf28

Sounds like a killer, have you found a wrx cooler?
I don't think i'll have the funds or time anytime soon for an ej20t conversion so i've been collecting parts to do a turbo conversion on my na ea82. I've got a WAIC, heat transfer, and a dummy engine at work on a stand to make a manifold on and a td04.

Have you thought about fabricating a set of pipes?

I see Sam beat me to this one

Here's a couple more pics - Isn't blue the right colour for a Vortex?

It's missing a windscreen trim at the moment. If anyone here has a Front LH trim that goes between the guard and the roof that is surplus to requirement And doesn't mind parting with it - give me a shout and we can talk about how to get it to me.

And while I am about it, if anyone knows which of the Aerpro radio masts will fit the stock motor assembly for sure - I need to replace that too. I am tempted to buy a Liberty one but I would like to know that it will fit into the motor OK before I do.

And I think the wheels you are looking for are Performance Wheels. I used to have a set on an old Datsun once. I think they will be a bit hard to find these days. They are probably 30 years old now. I prefer these ones myself. And they come is the right PCD as well.

What is the paint code on that? - It's WR Blue from an MY06 STi
I really want that style front bar :)- It's the later model Vortex bar. Caution - it's waaay heavier than the early one. But it does look the shiz

Is it a crossbred 5 stud kit? - No. It is actually XT6 rear hubs from the 6 cylinder car and the front is a mix of Liberty and Impreza bits.
