Hi, I am new here and I just recently bought Forester 2001 2.0L Auto. I had it for a service check up and all looks good.
Only problem that I have is that sometimes when I drive bit longer, after 30 to 60 minutes the engine light goes on and off and I think the car is running rich on fuel, but this is only my guess.
I also took the car for ECU check and nothing is wrong.
I am not sure what should be the average consumption for this car in the city but around 14l/100km is bit too much.

Please can anybody give me an advice what to do or how to check this issue?

Sounds like O2 sensor or something related to fuel (maybe knock sensor), If there is an error, its best get it checked straight away as soon it shows the error because further down the track it'll clear and come back with normal operation.

yes that is what I want to do to change the O2 sensor. So you saying that the ECU can giving correct information but the sensor can be wrong. That means if you drive it with the wrong sensor certain period it will make the change in ECU and calculated as a normal.

What is the knock sensor? does it have other name or specific part name?

Knock sensor is a knock sensor - no other names that I know of.
It senses (more like listens) knock or detonation and adjusts the ECU (fuel, timing etc) accordingly.
It lives to the RH (if standing in front of the car) side of the throttle body bolted to the block with 1 x 10 or 12mm bolt. If you replace this do not over-torque it.
You can also put a washer between the knock sensor and block to dampen the "noise" abit.
