Tribeca - poor high beam

Post by Sammo » Wed Dec 30, 2009 3:12 pm

I have just bought my wife a new Subaru Tribeca and she loves it.

The only problem is living in the country, we rely on the high beam to see straying animals and live-stock.

The low beam HID lights are amazing, but the high beam appear to be standard halogen and are extremely poor.

I contacted Subaru, to be told that this was the first complaint that had and that there was no retrofit HID high beam for the Tribeca.

Has anyone else experienced this, or fitted an aftermarket HID high beam kit.

Great forum by the way, very informative.

That's one lucky wife... I was just at a local dealership yesterday and the new model sure looks better than the old one.

While I was looking at it, I was thinking how nice this would look with a small nudge bar with a set of Lightforce or Roo Lights mounted on it :)

not sure if lowbeams are h4 high/low type or not, but be aware that hid take couple seconds to warm up so you may be without lights when you flick to high beam, enless you wire the lows to stay on as well. conversion will be a no brainer otherwise. although i will suggest the 4300k kit as being the best at illuminating the road.

It sghould almost be complimentary that a test drive stays in your hands overnight so you can sample the lighting peformance. Gotta say BA Falcon onwards has some of the best high and low beams I have ever used.

When someone has a complaint regarding something, that someone is usually always made to feel different by being told they are the first to complain whether they are genuinely the first to complain or not

I was going to say, its worth installing lightforce/IPF lights on, worth the money I had them once but the IPF lights/nudge bar got stolen!
Cheers
