I have a Power steering rack boot that wants changing. Repco have only got one type of boot listed for an L Series. Would the manual and power steering rack boots be the same?

I just put a pair on my Brumby manual - Oeticker brand and it was a universal application SRB001 SRB steering Rack Boot. Just needed to trim the two smallest rack end rings off to suit Brumby rack. The rings are lettered. I suspect the fitment book the parts guys have indicates which ring you cut down to for what car. On the bit that you use tie clip on to secure there is like a double edged lip. I trimmed with sharp blade BETwEEN the two lips to get best result. At first I trimmed keeping double lip but was too much material in the way to easily fit the boot. Silicone spray was handy for the tie rod end that was not trimmed at all. Prepare self with a bit of steering rack grease before you start job too if you can. Book says Subaru part number grease...

I prefer Oeticker over Fuel Miser and other brands in SRB's and CVBoots

Thanks very much for the replies guys. I think this time I might be putting some wrap around the exhaust to stop scaring the LH rack boot. Theres a good centimetre between it and the header pipe.

I have been surprised that Brumby has a heat shield on LHS but not RHS. Both boots essentially went at same time. More protection the better
