Just share a little trivia on the Subes made in 85, 86 and their towbars. You read it here.

Found out that towbars are different between L Series sedans and wagons, by enough to not fit between the models. Vortex are a totally different design in the rear arse end where it all bolts in so different towbar again.

I for one am happy nncoolg partially stripped his L RX of bits he needed, coz he didn't need the towbar - won't fit his Vortex. Cheap Grief now sports a genuine part numbered SA 225 towbar finished in charcoal hammertone and was a breeze to fit. Is almost hardly noticeable as it tucks up neatly below the bumper - not interfering with departure angle at all

Brumbies are different again. Fiori with a towbar ??? Nah?

Yeah they seem quite rare. I had a bugger of a time sourcing the towbar for my RX sedan (well, took me a day or two). Left it on the car when it sold to RSR-555.

If looking for a Vortex tow bar, the latest price i got was $120 from the wrecker. If you want PM me and I can pass on his details - not that i want to generate any income for him! Never bought off him in 25 years

Hi guys,
Id like some input on towing/trailering capibilities with a subaru. Ive just had my first week off, and maybe a couple more, in 10 years, spent a few days stripping my ra65 and harnesses etc to get my hilux on the road again with an efi conversion. I use the truck for building materials, fire wood and dump runs. What do you think I could expect after the ej22 is in my 90 wagon? I like the idea of a trailer and 1 less vehicle in the drive.
Steptoe, sorry if I have gotten us off track here.
Mark

even brumby towbars cal be slightly different. the one on my ute has two bolts and one on my half a ute, has three. per side that is. 3 bolt one is hayman reese brand. my one, unknown.

you could easily tow a box trailer full of sand or wateva with the L. Please dont go towing car trailers though. I wont tow a subie with a subie anymore, learned my lesson good.

:) sounds like a story we need to hear. Hope im done with car trailers, 300.00 to get the hilux home when it broke, truck trailer insurance gas and 150 miles.
