Hey

Post by Bogantaxi » Sat Feb 13, 2010 5:37 pm

Hey all, my name is James and I recently scored an '85 L series wagon for $325, which I will hopefully be getting regoed next week. It is Dual Range manual with 250000kms and full service history. She has been owned by an old guy and looked after pretty well, although she had some rust that I had to bog up and the clutch and gear box is a bit worn, and I need to replace the waterpump. In the future I would like to put a 3" lift and some 14" wheels, and also fit airconditioning since it does not have it. It is just a cheap daily driver which I want to go up the beach and maybe out bush camping in, I am absolutely loving the practicality of it, these l series have to be one of the most practical vehicles ever I think. Also, I work at a subaru dealer as a 3rd year apprentice mechanic and I love it, working on and driving band new subaru's all day :D

I just have a quick question for the other L series owners on here though, do you put lead replacement additive in the fuel or are the old EA82's alright to run on just unleaded?

Your EA82 will run fine with unleaded, no additive is necessary.

Subaru engines are all alloy and have hardened valve seats in the alloy heads, hence no problems with unleaded juice.
