Hey guys,

Im looking to start a new project over the next few months.

Motor - EJ25T or EJ207 (depending on $$)
Gbox - 4.444 auto AWD
Driveline - Full late model suspension and hubs. Probably running coil overs with full HD swaybars and strut braces.

The options are (in order of pref)

1. L-series wagon ( i still have a sevear soft spot)
2. Brumby
3. Vortex

my goal is to basically make a 'sleeper' 12sec car. The only visual mods the car will have is mags and lowered with a subtle exhaust and a black FMIC.

Opinions please! i dont know what to do!

Vortex is a must but very hard to find one that is in good nick to start with.

lol Mike....i highly doubt id do that :)

and Paul, i want soemthing thats fairly common and easy to source parts for. Which is why L-series is at the top of my list(and i know everything there is know about them haha)

i recon either the l ser, as you said, you know all you can about them, they are eaisyer to get parts for, and easy to fix when something goes wrong. (apparently) haha.

Cheers Mike.

Ummm.. maybe if you're looking for ease of parts then try a Gen1 Series1 LX Liberty gutted out and lightened, as I feel all of the cars you picked are getting harder to find bits for (admittedly L is on the top) but how often are you planning on replacing the rear parts?

nah dont want to do a liberty. Ease of parts(especially performance parts) are easy to get i know, but i already have a liberty :) and people know libertys have the potential to be quick.

I know i wont be replacing parts too often(especially car specific parts such as panels and stuff). I also plan on running all later model suspension so there wont be any issues there.

I want it to be sleeper...i want to get that look again when you absolutely burn dudes in v8s :) i miss that.

Brumby fan, BUT I think some of the general public are almost expecting a rexed Brumby. An L wagon with the oxidised red, white or beige paintwork would be better choice as they are cheaper to buy than Brumby as they are everywhere, not so agricultural as MY MV Brumby, and like how do you mod the rear suspension of a Brumby for the extra horsies without difficulties?

True.. but you're going to make the same mods to make the parts fit to any of these cars.. so really the body is just cosmetic.

I think it's all personal choice but I reckon a fast Vortex and the Trevs want know what hit them :D

haha.. I think my son would never talk to me again if I did. I have a friend in Gosnells that has 2 and if you go to him while he is at work (away for 3 weeks at a time) I know his wife would let you take them :D

Def go the Vortex,

As I'm sure you know the driveline is pretty much same as the L series so you can you use L parts.

Just make sure you find a complete Vortex so you don't need interior parts. Otherwise you'll have to do what I did and buy another vortex just for parts...

Vortex's aren't that hard to find, I would go with a factory awd one though as most of the bits are there to start with.

Tex also has a slightly longer engine bay so a bit more room to move.

my 2c, although I am slightly bias :D

i voted brumby, but if you're wanting to keep it a sleeper, the vortex is the least sleeper-ish

MY Wagon. Rex'd brumbies aren't that uncommen, I've spotted two in ballarat with 5 stud conversions and FMIC's. If not MY wagon the L wagon.
