Ok, next thing to fix on the Liberty is the trip computer and clock display....

It shouldnt be too hard, it seems to keep the time and trip info ok but the display blacks out somtimes, infact it now doesnt work at all.

Its an 04 Liberty with the trip computer between the 2 center air vents under the storage/sunglasses compartment.

My question is how do I remove it ?

And another related question is, has anyone been succesful in upgrading the stereo as this model has the climate control integrated in with the stereo facia ? The basicness of the standard stereo drives me nuts !!

Cheers Tim :)

Awesome kit :) Does it come with the fitting instructions for those who have never pulled their dash apart?

$5-650 dpending on exchange. I occasionally get them for customers of mine. I have a later one sitting at the shop.

Wow thats heaps.

If you could market them, (maybe an ebay store type setup) it would be almost worth your while to design and manufacture your own and sell them for less than that.

I have a wholesale network I have built up that I market these to. I do both retail and wholesale with my shop. these are sourced ex japan and directly from subaru. Some people are scared at the price and some realise that its the only way to do what they are asking and buy it anyway. thing being, there are 6 variants of this thing!

panels are cheap - the AC controller is what kills it. thought about getting the AC unit copied but reliability then comes into play if you used a chinese manu to do it.

Awsome work there Chris, that is exactly what I need re the stereo.
Any ideas on how to remove the factory panels for either the stereo or the trip comp though ?

Also wondering Chris, is it possible to order only a few of the peices of the kit or does it come as a whole only ?

in regard to removal. shifter panel first then teh silver side trims.
the kit itself cannot be bought in bits. I have already tried..
top bit pops out.

The cubby hole, vents, and trip/ clock display all come out as one unit (if it's the same as the unit in my 04 Outback - pretty sure it is). I removed mine by gently pulling at the cubby hole/ lid until it started to move forward, then working around the edge gently pulling til all the clips came out.

The stereo is a little more involved:
1- remove the rear half of the centre console by taking the 2 screws out of the console storage box and then prising the unit upwards (there's a couple of big clips located where the console joins the gear shift bit.)

2- remove the gear lever (or shifter) surround - should just be clips.

3- Remove the two trim pieces that run either side of the stereo unit - they have a screw each right down the bottom below the gear shift, and then three clips each up the sides. Just take the screws out and then pull them gently towards the back of the car.

4- You should then see the screws retaining the audio system in place. Four are towards the front (2 either side) and two are located deeper back, about half way up each side of the unit.

when pulling it out, be careful not to strain the various wires plugged in the back, especially the grey antenna lead to the left of the unit.

hope that helps! :D

Thanks for that guys. :)
I thought it would probably be clips but didnt want to break anything just in case it wasnt.
