Hi i would like to know how you can tell the diffrence between the brumby types can you please help.

Umm.. Brumby really only came in 2 body styles..

1978 - 1981 Brumby

As they released them in so many years, Subaru made some cosmetic changes just to boost sales but the bodys were the same.

But then you have the specials, and sports, ect Can you tell the diffrence to them at all

In 1985/86 saw the release of what Subaru Australia called the "Sports pack" which had a light gauge roo bar, aluminium side boards, white spoked rims and twin (targa) glass removable roof.

In 1988 (I believe it may be earlier?) to 1992 saw the release of the "Ag-quip pack" which had the heavy gauge (bumper replacement) bull bar, tonneau cover, white spoked rims and some awesome side decals

What are you looking to find out in particular? is there a model you're looking to buy?

there is also the single headlight version and the twin headlight of the 79 to 92 shape. Think they were all EA81 1800cc 4 speed d/r manuals

Agreed

Only real differences were a few bolt on accessories or awesome decals.

With the exception of the targa top Brumby the body, gearbox, motor were all the same 1982-92

Awesome decals? I can't tell through text if you guys are being sarcastic or not.

I have the Ag-Quip version, and due to an incident with a van my drivers side door is missing the decals (painters didn't do the decals). In fact you can see that in my sig of the old girl at Robe. But I was always planning on removing the decals for a simpler cleaner look anyway.

yeah, the decals sure are(nt) awesome aliright. single and twin lights are the biggest differences in any case

1979 to 1982 Brumbys had single or twin round headlights. These ute were fitted with the EA71 1600cc engine and a single range PT-4WD gearbox. I'm not 100% up with these models but as they are slowly disappearing I guess it will be hard to know the full story.

1982 to 1992 Brumbys were released with the new EA81 1800cc engine and a dual range PT-4WD gearbox. You could buy them as shown below..

Single (1 per side) square headlight were just called MV1800 utilitys and most people in Aus now just refer to them as Brumbys for ease.

Twin (2 each side) headlights were only available from 1985 onwards in the Sports and Ag-quip packs.

Now as for the stickers.. well I'm sure they looked really cool back in their day but now days they kinda don't fit in.. unless you have a car which you're trying to keep as original as possible

I'd keep the stickers if i had a brumby.

Im gonna be getting new stickers for my RX if i can find them somewhere

Think the good humored jibe here is that differing (awesome) decals = a 'new' model back in the day according to FHI.

As mentioned, they are getting on, and on a car that still looks good decades on, that do look out of place/not dated well.

But hey, is only my opinion - regardless of the (awesome) decals Brumbies are cool - no sarcasm!

played with my tailgate stickers before a repair to make BRUMBY read GRUMPY. The stickers only look good on tidy utes imo

I don't mind the 4wd decal, but the stripes don't do it for me. But I guess that's because the Brumby I'm driving was a farm ute and as such, has the farm dented tailgate, and dog scratched sides, so the faded peeling decals draw attention to its other cosmetic flaws. On a nice tidy, maybe white Brumby, the decals work out.

EDIT: and yeh sven, regardless, no one can't not love the Brumby.

Double EDIT: no wonder I only got a 14 in PES English.
