Being the BYB forum, there are a lot of BYB lifted Subarus getting about around here.
I'm swapping out my home-made liftkit for a BYB one very shortly, and my brother's L series has a BYB kit too.
I know of a few Hirise ones, a few homemade ones and a couple of SubaXtreme ones getting around in WA. The key isn't really the brand - its what its built of, how it's built and how it's installed. My brother's kit had only one minor problem that was quickly and easily fixed, since then its been going great.
So how come there's these lifted Subarus getting around in Perth that don't go 4WDing with the WA crew?

roll call of all the lift kit brands? :P
Subamods (Victoria I think) - do they still exist?
byb
subaextreme
hirise
scorpian
thats atleast 5 maybe, so many? so if theres 5 makers churning out lift kits every working day

so maybe 800 per yr, how come I'm not seeing more lifted subarus around

and why are the makers mostly in Qld?

Yeah I'm guilty of that.

Mainly being:
Work - shift including working weekends
Family - time, and not interested in going bush
House - morgage (lots a money)
Spare time - very little
Subie - daily work driver (try and not to break it = money)
So basically Time & Money.
I will try and make an effort this year when the Tourer gets mobile, I do want to get these wheels dirty

We built a couple for my brothers MY wagon and a mates L series using Hi-Rise (I have to say this, because BYB wouldn't get back to us, this was about a year ago, I think they are better now) front strut tops. Then we bought some 2x2" alloy square rod and a cold cut blade for the circular saw. Bought all the bolts from the local steel shop and all up saved about $150 a kit. But it is so much easier to just go an buy them. Plus it took a while to get the bolts in. 12mm bolts over 75mm long are hard to get in a 1.25mm thread.
We would of made the front strut tops our selves but at the time we need to kits sooner then later and we wernt sure on the camber offset needed.
