The EJ experience register - sticky please

Thought it would be a good idea to create a sticky register of those with experience of each engine classification of our Subarus.
The idea is simple to give anyone assistance via PM's or help with the SEARCH function - search by username.
By assisting with the search function we might reduce duplication of same questions that sometimes rise annually
Just list the variations of the engine if there were any. And maybe keep it as a register not a thread chatter (gentle hint)

So are we after different variations or the experience of what we've used these engines for, difficulty of conversion, issues along the way, difference in subi after conversion???
El Freddo - has experience with one particular EJ22. Goes like shit off a shovel compared to an EA82
The upgrade makes the L series a very nice subi to drive, I believe this is how they should have come from the factory.
Difficulty of conversion: If you've never spun a spanner, can't read a wiring diagram and hate looking at a tangled mess of wiring then this conversion is not for you.
If you like to take your time and nut things out and know your way around a spanner then you *should* be able to pull this conversion off.
For more reading refer to the following threads:
Fitting an EJ motor into an MY or L series Subaru Please read all posts in this as your question may have been answered already.
EJ into L series write up
Hmmm thought there were more to read but I can't find them at the moment...
Hope that's what you're after Steptoe. Should I pay out the EA82 now in the other thread???
Cheers
Bennie

Does have experience working on but not rebuilding on EJ engines, ive worked on/replaced HG, seals on EJ22 N/A and EJ20 N/A.
Have done low range conversion on EJ gearboxes.

Pav - 98 EJ20 (in L-series) - Obviously the torque is the biggest difference between the EA and EJ motors. On the road no need to rev out that much up hill, overtaking is actually fun, and still delivers great fuel economy. Seems though to be a bit touchy compared to my EA81s, as in it won't run great if there are a few problems with the electrics or cooling system, so even at 180,000kms I have to replace head gaskets and all the other cooling gear (this may be due to previous abuse, but the ea81 can stand alot more abuse and not have much effect.)
So basically replace all the seals, gaskets, important bits when you get hold of an EJ motor, and upper engine cleaner is a must for these, helps quite a bit.

I rebuilt an ej253 (elec throttle 2004 liberty) at 170000ks due to bigend failure,(lack of oil, bad rings prob). I dont frequent here too often but I will eventually answer if anyone has a question.

The lower radiator support panel has been chopped to fit Liberty radiator.
Crossbred kit is 75% complete, one rear hub to do, and then fit the handbrakes.
VLSD rear diff centre turned up yesterday, will be putting it into by rear diff soon.
Gearbox will be mounted soon, so i can make some gearbox mounts
Wiring loom arrives tomorrow, so stripping it down will be interesting, hopefully i will take heaps of photos so you all can see.
Estimated time of completion is christmas

EJ18 and EJ22 conversions into L Series. Minor mechanical work on those EJ engines.
