Im just wondering , how well do ea82 handle high revs?
has anyone redline it?

Ive read somewhere that the valves float before it will fly apart

i believe mine only revs as far as about 7000rpm, then it floats.

Current Projects: *Offroad Racing MY Touring Wagon.
* EA82T Jap spec L series Wagon.

Previous rides: *Supercharged EJ25 Rwd Brumby
* 2 x 91' L series Ej20, 3 inch lift, mud tyres.

My response would have to be.. Why?? Most power/torque is lost after 6,000rpm

I wouldn't put the engine under any more stress than needed.. unless you have lots of money to burn :p

I have hit 5800RPM but thats about as far a I want to push an old engine.

I have hit 5500 on a N/A EA82 - you get valve bounce after that.

Agreed, these EA82's rev much like an old Falcon six, their torque is low down, horses not much further up and no need to spin much faster you start to get oil aeration etc giving lifters hiccups etc. Hit 6500 a few times without meaning/trying with an EA82T with the big hole under turbo, so quick so short a duration did not hear bad stuff but no go up there.
