Grateful for any assistance in choosing suitable 2-3 year old Subaru.
To be mainly used for on-road performance - but some use on muddy forestry roads, and off-road for short distances to access campsites.

Want something with bit more interior room and ground clearance than WRX, whilst retaining good performance and handling.
Would a lowered, retyred, reshocked XT do the job ?
Or is the Outback a better starting point - but how to get more power ?
Else lift a Liberty GT Spec B wagon (want manual) ?

Who is competent to do this work on Sunshine Coast or in Brisbane ?

Many thanks.

A XT Forester is probably your best bet.

I wouldnt bother lowering it.

Other than that, a 3.0 H6 Outback is next. The Gen4 ones have 180kW

If you want to go custom, Al at AM Auto is your go.

My 05 XT is exactly that - 99% onroad with a bit offroad
keep the ride height stock but put on bigger swaybars to improve onroad handling
fit a metal bashplate and youre ready
