EA81T Questions

Post by Matt » Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:03 pm

A couple of questions for the few people with an EA81T

1. What turbo pressure are you running?
2. What ECU you using?
3. What Valve clearance should i have?
4. Is the oil pump the same as a normal EA81?
5. What head gaskets should i be using?

Thanks
Matt

1. Standard.. I think it's around 4-6psi. Sorry no gauge and only way I can tell the turbo is boosting is a green light on the dash comes on :???:
2. Again standard ECU
3. Mine appear to have Hydralic Lifters as the rockers are factory set.
4. From the outside it looks the same but never pulled it apart.
5. Call Subaru spare parts.. I have a VIN if needed or try Ebay USA

Cheers,
Paul

As far as Subaru in Australia are concerned with parts of the EA81 that were not available in Australia they generally don't have listings - like the hydraulic lifters. Could not even find a listing for them on OS markets aftermarket some years back for my import EA81

I have an ea81 turbo in the shed that has an aftermarket fuel management system too. It ran a vf2 turbo - whatever is on an ea82t on 10psi. It was on an stock ea81 non turbo block so yeah I used the same oil pump

Nope.. he doesn't own a Suby :( even after all these years (about 15) I still can't convince him :???:

You can always ask me for genuine parts and I'll pass it on

I'm 99% sure my EA81Ts are hydralic as there is a sticker on the rocker cover stating something about not adjust the tappets. Never pulled either of mine apart so can't be 100% sure.
