Spidery (manifold) goodness -> issues++

Good to be back!

Been stuffing around troubleshooting these problems, and would value any opinions/suggestions from anyone who has been this dark path of sorrow previously...

have an EA82T L-seies conversion from an australian delivered donor car

Fitted a spider manifold with an RS IC and experienced issues since - mainly idle and fuel eccomony, BUT it goes much harder.

Issue 1: idle is rough & high despite modifications to TPS, hot/cold running etc. ECU consistantly shows no fault codes.

Issue 2: Ecomony - about 275km tank driving nice. Going hard about 250km with black gunge over the tailgate. This was an issue B4 the manifold was fitted, but not as bad. Std boost

Had injectors cleaned - very very gummed up (despite only using PULP). since cleaning car runs better, more power, but ecomony is unchanged.

Swapped both the AFM, dizzy & ECU with a RX that returns 12ish lt/100 - no difference !!

Sooo, given there has been much stuffing around trying to get this right, (thanks muchly to Steve B) was thinking a WOLF 3D would be way to go - any suggestions / tips / comments heading down this path?? Anything I've missed??

thanks[/u]

Sounds like you have an issue with the water temp sensor, it could be stuffed, not connected (both would give codes usually) or the terminals are corroded making it seem to the ECU that the car is still running cold

G'day Steve,
Sounds like you're having fun with my old bus! Good to hear

I'm surprised the injectors have gummed up again, I had them cleaned just prior to you buying it....

BTW, can I drop a turbo off at your house some time for Steve? I don't get out that side of town during the week.

thanks guys

O2 sensor: new unit

H2O sensor: also swapped, works fine, no codes

Mixture: nope, tailpipe CO readings spot on, EXCEPT coming off cruise, soooo,

Current thinking it's the valve hanging off the dizzy that contributes to ecconomy - ordered a new one & will fit next week.

Geach, drop the turbo by anytime - am headed out to Rising Sun (probably) Wed/Thurs this week. And was your white RS wagon (lowered now?) TR into Henely Beach off south in a powerslide about a week or two ago??

have you got at least one of the vacuum switchs on the the right hand strut tower hooked up? i disconnected the boost/fuel cut and left the line for the boost light in place because the ECU requires a signal. i beieve that computer and motor is an 85/86 model with the 4(?) plug ECU.

it had behaved as you describe with them both unplugged.
