not unless you have something to block up the back of the gearbox, eg a dummy shaft because as soon as you take out the drive shaft most of the gearbox oil will drain out.

check to see if your tailshaft has grease nipples if so just fill them up and the noise will stop for a while

Some can be but you'll need to look at your prop shaft. Were the uni-joint cup is there needs to be a c-clip on the inside. If unsure, I'd call RGM and get a quote.. you might be surprised :)

Oil leak.

It appears that the brumby tailshaft is different to the L series. Mine has a two piece shaft with a retained spigot and flange on the gearbox, so the rear shaft can be removed and still driven. Anyone remember the dark ages when most parts interchanged between models?

toonga is spot on, best fix is to replace uni joints. cheap n easy to do, jus remember you will need to replace gearbox oil when you finish the job cause you will loose the lot when you remove the shaft.

How much oil do you have in your gearbox??? I'd definitely be raising the rear of the car to remove the prop shaft rather than the front, no oil will come out when you do this ;)

And the L series two piece tail shaft is very handy at times for removing the rear diff if you ever need to - like when you weld it up
