has anyone seen the fumoto valve?

i was thinking of putting one in the subaru and maybe honda but just want to see if anyone has done it?

a nice Idea for road cars, but I could see it getting ripped right out of my sump in the bush.

Shouldn't be a problem though if you have a bash plate, anyway I've ordered one now, I'll see how it goes...

toongas right, maybe dangerous to rip off but yeah for the honda and my L atm it would be fine.
the main reason i dont change my oil and filter that often is i havent got the time but with this whack a bucket under and lift the tab filters another story but still.
does anyone know what thread is on the oil drain plug for the subaru EA82?
and im pretty sure the washer is the reason my oil is leaking =(

for off-road applications a hose clamp can be added which would make inadvertent opening impossible
Me like. You should have a sump guard anyway...

I've got one on each of our cars - an Outback and an Impreza.
Would not have another car without them, they make changing the oil that much easier it's not funny - don't even need tools anymore.
That hose clamp/ring is going abit overboard, you need to flick the lever up and rotate it to release the oil, I'd be more worried about a big arse dent in my headers/sump etc.
Edit - Neither car has a sump guard (don't do off road) nor the plastic crapper they come with stock.

Since it points out sideways doesn't the oil shoot a long way when you open it?
It's bad enough without one, I forgot to move the pan with the moving stream and got oil all over the driveway
Looks like a great little addition though

WTF!
I dont see the point!
It takes about 30 seconds to get out a 17mm socket and pull off the sump plug and if carefull it does not drop in the oil.
And I think you could buy about 50 sump plug washers for the price of one of those.
Just a another gimmick if you ask me!
The hardest bit is still going to be the filter anyway!

i thought this when i saw it, but ive been weighing up the merits and personaly i think its awesome.
on the honda im going to be changing oil every 5000 km and testing after every 1000 or after a hard flog.
also with me finding the tools is usually the hard part, i know ive got them, somwhere............. in the shed

another thing i figured and they put a hose nipple on it so you can direct it to where it needs to be

concept is great and has been around for some years. First saw it advertised or reviewed in I think might have been Aus 4wd mag, A long time ago. Perhaps the more senior members may recall. Anyhowz I would like to try one! should last me since I dont throw my car down a flight of boulders every w/end

My "serviceman" had the same thought I think, I had them fit a Fumoto after a service and each time I had the Forester serviced after that I was charged for a crush washer. It started to leak oil (one & only oil leak) so I had them put the old plug back in and no problems whatsoever since.
