Fender flares

I'm very good at installing them now, and have a lot of opinions and advice if anyone's interested.

I've tried both Flexi-Flares and just the rubber strips from Clark Rubber.
Imho, if looks matter then go with the Flexi Flares.

I tried to save a bit by going with Clark Rubber on the rear,
but for the effort I put in, installing at least a dozen screws
I didn't like how the edge of the flare looked warped at some spots, since there's no tension.

I now have extra Clark Rubber 35mm fender flares

in approx 1.5m lengths (2) and another strip about 50-70cm long
which would be perfect if anyone needs to throw some on to make their Subaru street legal.
Any takers?

Flexi-Flares:

-come with self-tapping sheetmetal screws that work, but are a big pain;
go buy some quality self tapping screws with bigger screw heads (more pressure) and can cut the hole easier

-lubricate the hole where the trim rim goes with lots of lube. I used Lanolin...
else your fingers will get sore very quickly trying to force it through dry rubber,
by the time you're about 40 cm in; too far in to pull out

I made my Flexi-Flares run the entire length of the wheel-well and mud-flap.
With the trim ring to add tension, I have a smooth arch over all tyres that nearly looks factory-installed.

Could I put strips of LED lights on the outer part of my fen

Could that be ADR compliant?

I'm thinking 15-25 cm strips from and rear of each flare
would help light up the sides of the car so I can see hazards at night.

I wouldn't even mind if the rear facing ones had to be red LED's.
I mostly want more light pointing forwards,
and if I had leds on the front corners I could actually see around a corner, before I start to turn. ;)

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but how did you fit the flexiflares over the mudguards?

I'm about to attempt adding flelixflares to my L Series and fitting them with the mudguards looks like it could be a pain.

I've just fitted some ORE flexi flares to my L-series, just the same as above, no troubles at all with fitting down the mudflap. Just had to use small bolts instead of screws once the flap got too thin for screws

Glad this thread got bumped back up. I've got a box of flares I've been meaning to fit for ages now. Looks so good it'll have to be a good reminder to get off my a** and fit them! :D
