That would be my opinion too, but if he was using a manual gearbox with straight cut gears I would imagine that it howled along in any gear. That and if he tried to drive it around town in the manual setup I'd say it would be more of a pig than a pleasure to drive! That thing was built for track or thrash work, not daily driving or ducking down the corner store for a bottle of milk and the sunday paper.mud_king91 wrote:shouldve kept it manual
He'll find the right buyer I'm sure.
Cheers

I'd like to see some of you drive that thing for an hour or so and see how much you liked it afterwards .
Drag cars are pigs , I reckon the only reason Tony would have built it was because its reasonably light and AWD capable .
It would be noisy and brutal on the clutch and gearbox if its had a dog conversion . People don't build drag cars with nice drivelines because they don't live in that environment .
The autos make life easier because you omit the solid center competition clutch and the nead for expensive gearset conversions .
Torque converters don't hit the same way as a button clutch when launched and the gear changes are faster and more reliable .
The thing is that short gearing and higher "stall" converters are also not terribly suitable on the street , just less agro than drag manual transmissions .
