Brumby/EA81 almost stalling at idle
hi all
So my Brumby has always run like a dream. Haven't driven it too much in the last couple of months, but it seems to have developed a idle problem over the last couple of weeks. On start up and at idle it sounds and feels like it is going to stall. When driving it is 100%, it's just when it's at idle.
I have taken a quick video - I have the air cover off ( this made no difference )
http://www.youtube.com/watchv=4hjNKyDK6 ... ata_player
Any ideas what I should start looking at ( I have a very basic knowledge on cars )

Without viewing the video I'd be checking all of your vacuum hoses to make sure they're all still connected. It will take one hose to slip off and you'll have starting issues, idle issues and it won't run very well either.
The other thing to check is your spark plugs and leads - if one spark is down you'll be on three cylinders until you pick the revs up.
All the best

+1 for vacuum leak, I had a small one and mine idled like that but when driving it was barely there. Also plugs and leads, I've had a plug look like new but was broken internally.
Failing that you could always give the idle speed screw a little tweak, although it wouldn't solve why the engine has suddenly developed this problem.

Will it ever end!?

Depends more how old the engine/manifold is. All my engines have been 83' or before and have only had 1 or two vacuum outlets. I'm assuming this Brumby is alot later in which case there's a few
