Yep the Baja was made for the American market only and I'm pretty sure it was a well kept secret. the biggest drawback was that the tray wasn't long enough to put a motorbike in, without leaving the tailgate down.

1) Not really a brumby at all, just another subaru model trying to pose as one

2) It's got 4 doors, not two...

3) The cargo area is too small to have a drinking session with a couple of mates

4) refer to #3

5) It probably wouldn't last as long as an 80's original brumby, even with a brumby that's already got 20+ years on it!

6) Subaru have lost touch with it's basic reliable builds that were their foundation of producing practical cars.

Oh and 7) It was never offered to us in the first place, probably because Subaru Australia looked at it and thought about points 1 through to 6.

Cheers

New? Not really - been around for sometime as the Baja

Having driven one in Canada for a bit, they are not that great.

Tray to small to be useful, no lockage storage (is why you see luggage boxes on a lot of them), back seats are cramped like a small dual cab.

They look novel to us, but I personally can't rate them..

couldnt fit a bike on the original brumby either. would be a good car if was only 2 door then it would be a modern brumby, wish subaru would make a current brumby. AWD 2 door ute with turbo diesel!!!!
