Yeah it has door frames, but its AWD atleast. I reckon it will be nice to drive with the 6 speed manual and FB20

Agreed.
nachaluva wrote:I dont get why they brought back the door frames.

Probably because of the strength required in the window for the side curtain airbags.

Yeah, I want to see another small to medium sized subaru that's not lost in the sea of SUVs that are out there now... They were great cars in a niche market.
And what's the BRZ?
FROG - I thought someone was going on holidays for two weeks?? If you're taking this machine with you I want a full offroading report - and I mean really pushing the boundaries offroading!
Cheers

meh nothing special. if it was diesel then it would be special. but subaru already HAD a small suv the forester. remember before it got so big? unfortunately subaru are not finding the niche in the market with its unique models like yesterday cars from subaru

If you can't do a report for us mate I sure will

I don't think my mother will be too happy with it all scratched and a burnt out clutch but i'll see how it goes when she gets it.
Im hoping the traction control will help with the diagnal spin too.
It is still Subaru like with some quirky styling but not the same as the Subies 5-20years old. They are just quirky japanese little machines that just go forever and will go anywhere while being practicle and comfortable.
The perfect get away car but its not so much anymore.
Too much plastic and not enough metal, too much flimsy bits to break.

Yeah I agree Subaru have lost the plot recently, "getting lost in a sea of SUVs" (very well put), so have most other makes. They're all becoming plastic copies churned out by the same CAD program, no imagination, no personality. Italian cars may be notoriously unreliable but at least they have individuality.
If only Mr.Fuji would get an Italian designer lol

Subaru was all good up until late 2008. Maybe check out their history and see if an old designer died in that year

Would explain a few things.

That would have been about the time that Holden let go of their grip on subaru - hence the holden crossover 8 and crossover 6 AWD's that came about. They left Subaru with another set of crap SUV designs in the pipe work before they left them.

Damn it seems everyone wants Subaru to be the quirky and niche! Saab is a perfect example of this (RIP Saab)! Subaru has been selling more than ever and ultimately that is how car makers survive.
For me I love the looks, finally getting rid of the previous Impreza. Now that was Bland...

And by the way Subaru did hire an Italian designer and then sacked him around 12 months later (OK he is actually French but he did design in Italy for some years).
